What the role does.
General Responsibilities
- Assist in recruiting and retaining 2 Cargo Trailer Managers.
- Maintain the cargo trailer in a clean, organized and safe operating condition.
- Regularly inspect the trailer, including tires, lights, hitch, safety chains, electrical connections, locks, doors, ramp and any other components.
- Identify maintenance or repair needs and coordinate their completion in a timely manner.
- Ensure required registration and insurance are current, coordinating with THD President where necessary.
- Keep the interior and exterior of the trailer clean and presentable as a visible representation of Team Hoyt Denver.
- Maintain appropriate tie-downs, straps, locks and other equipment necessary for safe transportation.
- Complete a schedule with Trailer Managers to ensure the cargo trailer is transported to and from every Team Hoyt Denver race and event, personally handling a minimum of 4 THD races or events annually.
- Ensure Trailer Managers have appropriate vehicles to tow the trailer and train them in the safe operation of towing the trailer, including supplying them with the Trailer Departure Checklist.
- Work with the Racing Chair Director to transport racing wheelchairs to/from Bike Source for maintenance as needed.
Cargo Trailer Manager Responsibilities
- Conduct the final Trailer Departure Checklist before each trailer departure.
- Ensure all RWCs and other equipment are properly positioned and securely tied down before the trailer is moved.
- If needed, ask the Race Manager for a THD volunteer to meet you at the parking area to serve as a Spotter to assist in parking the trailer. Request Spotter volunteer two weeks ahead of the race.
- Park trailer in designated area and cone off additional parking spots for AWD team members as agreed upon with Race Manager.
- Cone off or BE SURE there is adequate room in front of and behind the trailer as needed to tow out the trailer after the race concludes. You do not want to get parked in.
- Ensure arrival time is adequate to unload RWCs and other equipment together with Racing Chair Manager, planning to arrive at a minimum one hour before Team Hoyt members arrive. Coordinate exact time and location with Race Manager.
- Stay at the trailer to safeguard all personal belongings left by runners and riders. If you’d like to go to the race, ask the Race Manager for a Volunteer to stay with the trailer. Request this volunteer two weeks ahead of the race.
- Ensure the trailer is locked whenever it will be unattended.
- Ensure the trailer is returned to the storage location following each race or event.
